Desert Metropolis

One more from Nevada's Valley of Fire.

I had been meaning to try this one out in a high contrast black and white and a post over on Flickr reminded me that this shot was sitting patiently in a corner, tapping it's foot and occasionally glancing at it's watch with a raised eyebrow as if to ever so subtly suggest (in it's own little way) that I should, oh I dunno, Get To It.

...what?... Oh, you're just jealous because your photos don't talk to you!

The contrast was only partially achieved at the time of exposure with a polarizing filter. The rest was done in post with curve and level adjustments (selecting white and black points).
